Meet Vance Badawey

Vance Badawey is Member of Parliament for Niagara Centre, which includes the municipalities Welland, Port Colborne, Thorold, and south St. Catharines. He is currently a sitting member of the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations, the latter being only one of two committees comprised of members from both the House of Commons and the Senate.

Vance is a member of multiple Interparliamentary groups including the Canada-Italy Interparliamentary Group and the Canada-United States Interparliamentary Group. As part of the Canada-United States IPG, Vance founded the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway Caucus, which works to protect the economic, environmental, and social aspects of this important resource.  Furthermore, Vance is also involved in a number of caucuses including the Indigenous Caucus, Golden Horseshoe Caucus, and Rural Caucus, and Steel Caucus, working diligently in each of these files in order to bring about the best results for his constituents in Niagara Centre, and for all Canadians.

Prior to his election, Vance began his career in public service as a City Councillor for the City of Port Colborne in 1994, at the time; he was the youngest member of council. A few short years later in 1997, the residents of Port Colborne elected him as Mayor. On top of his mayoral duties, Badawey did double-duty as a Regional Councillor on Niagara Regional Council. During his tenure(s), he served on numerous agencies, boards and commissions, including being a member of the Regional Municipality of Niagara Police Services Board.

Since his election in 2015, Vance has worked tirelessly for the residents of Niagara Centre. He has hosted numerous consultations and town halls on issues such as sustainability, defense, infrastructure, and accessibility. Using these consultations, Vance ensures that the voices of Niagara Centre residents are heard in Ottawa. In addition, he has also hosted information sessions for the public on topics such as Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, and Guaranteed Income Supplement.

Vance looks forward to continuing to work with the many dedicated members of our community in Niagara Centre.
